出口注塑模具的机械抛光是个非常细致的手工活,因此出口注塑模具抛光的技术,依然是当下影响模具抛光质量的主要原因。此外,还与出口注塑模具材料、抛光前表面状况和热处理工艺等有关。高品质的模具钢是获得良好抛光品质的先决条件,如果模具钢表面硬度不均匀或性能有差异,模具钢中的各种夹杂物和气孔也不利于抛光,即使是有经验的老师傅抛光出的效果也不佳。

出口注塑模具钢的不同硬度抛出的效果也不相同,模具钢硬度高虽然研磨难度增大,抛光时间消耗较大,但抛光后粗糙度会降低,得到的抛光效果更好。与此同时,硬度增加,抛光过度所造成表面差异的可能性也相应降低。

出口注塑模具的前期加工工艺对抛光也有一定的影响,在切削模具钢的过程中,表面层会受到热力、内应力等因素的损伤,切削时必须保证转速和进给率比较均匀,才不会影响出口模具抛光效果。电火花加工面较普通切削类加工或热处理的表面会更难打磨,所以在电火花加工完成之前,应进行电火花修整,要不然会形成硬化层。若选用标准不恰当,则烧灼硬化层深度可达0.4mm。硬化层的硬度要高于钢体,要尽可能地将其去除,为后续的抛光加工奠定良好的基础。
