自有品牌产品兴起于西方发达国家,目前在全球尤其是欧洲、北美地区已经变得越来越畅销。“ACNielsen”在36个国家的超市中调查了80种产品,其中有17%的产品是自有品牌产品。在英国、德国、比利时,自有品牌产品的市场份额已超过40%,在法国、西班牙也超过了30%,在瑞典、挪威、丹麦、冰岛地区市场份额为20%,在中欧和东欧地区为18%,在北美地区也超过20%。全球其他地区的自有品牌产品所占市场份额也在逐年攀升。  


美国人正在转向商场自有品牌。自有品牌产品的三大主流销售渠道-超市、连锁店和大型商场,全线的销售收入飙升,创造了新的记录。消费者通过各种各样的渠道购买的自有品牌产品比以往任何时候都多。尼尔森指出,自近几年夏天以来,各大超市、药品连锁、大型商场的自有品牌销售额增长了12%。全年销售达到800亿美元,市场占有额达到22%。 美国是一个高度发达的资本主义超级大国,其政治、经济、军事、文化、创新等实力领衔全球。消费者越来越多的青睐于购买自有品牌商品。八成的消费者认为,这些品牌甚至超过民族品牌,近20%的消费者预期在未来的几年中会购买更多的自有品牌。
